In this session we will discuss the benefits of encouraging students to play board games- not video games- during free time in the classroom. I will also provide a lesson based on a board game to allow students to play a game as part of the curriculum. Empower Your Innovation
Sunday July 20, 2025 6:15pm - 7:15pm EDT
As educators, we are always looking for opportunities to grow professionally and bring new ideas to the classroom. Being a mentor will help other FCS teachers feel “Empowered” through the many “Innovative” classroom strategies. Being a mentee invites professional growth but also less confusion of delivering classroom content. Being a           mentee/mentor allows mentors to advise a mentee on big-picture issues like career path, while also helping to        negotiate more day-to-day issues like office politics, processes, and relationships with peers and superiors. This      session will  be geared towards goal setting and achievement strategies; communication and interpersonal skills;   problem-solving and critical thinking; and leadership and teamwork. We will also focus on building strong                  relationships, securing and developing resources, leading change amid ambiguity, and driving vision and purpose to motivate others.

Meant to be Broken
Tuesday July 22, 2025 2:45pm - 3:45pm EDT
That's right - some rules are meant to be broken - and in this egg-citing session, you'll learn how to do that, without stepping on toes, hurting feelings, and without damaging your image and leaving egg on your face!
The American Egg Board's promotion focus this year is just that - how eggs, are meant to be broken, and in different ways then they've been used in the past - leading to interesting switcheroos in the kitchen, that'll get your students into not playing it safe - taking a chance - and ending up bringing out their creative selves in the kitchen and elsewhere.
As always, the Virginia Egg Council's Consumer Affairs/Educational Director, Mary Rapoport, will get this message across by using old-school demonstration techniques, leading to an intriguing, enlightening, and fun-filled session,  this is one you won't want to miss.
